Hawkswick cottage | Yorkshire Dales

It was this mid-September when we have decided to head towards one of the best scenic locations in the UK to spend a week of adventures in the Yorkshire Dales. The cosy hamlet of Hawks wick is placed in the district of Littondale by the River Skirfare.

With a population of 70 people, you heard, Hawkswick provides the quietness that we needed for a short break in the middle of nowhere. The narrow roads that take us to this remote part of the Dales are pretty distracting. Distracting in a good way, of course.

The superb views of moors, valleys and stunning landscapes and villages were just a previous of what was waiting for us at our holiday site. The Yorkshire Dales is perfect for an active gateway. We had in mind to find a place that would be secluded but also with access to footpaths from your doorstep.

The terraced cottage is nestled in a tranquil spot with access to footpaths and incredible wildlife. Remote enough to switch off completely.

Its cosy little self-catered place is suitable for couples wishing to explore and explore the Yorkshire Dales and enjoy long walking in the countryside or just look for a special retreat.

The lounge is a welcoming space with TV set, sofa, board games and the benefits of a wooden fire. At the first sight, this cottage looks like a perfect site for spending an Autumn retreat. I couldn`t wait to warm myself up in front of the wooden fire. If you have some reading to catch up, this is the place to be.

In the same room is placed the functioning kitchen equipped with microwave, mini-fridge a mini-oven. The owner left some local eggs and I presumed that comes from the chickens I have spotted on the property. Local produce is all you need when in the countryside. That was breakfast sorted for the next day!

The kitchen has enough to prepare simple meals. So, don`t go over the top. It’s better to keep it simple. Besides, there are plenty of country pubs around waiting for you to try the best of Yorkshire food.

Bedroom and bathroom are placed upstairs. They are both spacious rooms with a character. Modern – but done with a conservative touch.

6

Comfy king size bed, a chest of drawers and some candles make the ambient pretty cosy. The bathroom is huge and the bathtub with shower is a welcoming item for a relaxing time.

8

Especially when you are planning to walk some miles in the Dales during the week.

I was delighted with the views from this property windows. There is nothing more exciting than waking up facing valleys, landscapes and that tranquil feeling of a countryside life.
